If you decided to flip through my phone’s extensive arsenal of photos, you might notice that I don’t deviate much from photos of my dog, other people’s dogs, and food. A lot of the breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts I have had in the last few have been some of the best. So why let them sit on my harddrive, when I could share them with you Hungries? Who doesn’t want a few recommendations for the next time they are out and about?
Alas, I have decided to make Throwback Thursdays a weekly installment, enjoy!
Pick Me Up Cafe, located near Wrigley Field is often listed as one of the best stops in all of Chicago. With a large menu that offers plenty for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free-ers, this diner is a pleaser for most. Their sandwiches (the bumpin grinder is the best) and breakfasts are diner food with a twist, but the ice cream takes the cake. Unfortunately, the last time I was there the service was incredibly slow (think 30+ minutes for nachos and fries) and there was a nasty smell coming from the bar. However, if you sit outside, the prime people watching location makes up for it. Pictured above is their brownie sundae, and easily one of the best things on the menu. A classic mix of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, sprinkles, and a warm brownie, its melt in your mouth good. Also, its perfect to share.
